Gez off to a bad start at Vila Sol, with his tee shot only going a few yards (may have been inches) Unfortunately the next 3 or 4 shots where not much better. With only 9 points on the front nine and eleven on the back it ended up his worst score for a long time. Early mornings are not his strength

Day one winner was Steve W recovered well from only three points standing on the sixth tee. Posting the best back nine score of the day with nineteen. He also managed to get nearest the pin for a financial stable first day. Second place Paul H posted a decent score considering the warm conditions and early morning start. Two blobs early on and none on the back made up the round, but just too many single points score left him two short. Like Steve it was a financial decent day taking one of the nearest the pins and the captains combo. It all looked rather good for the captain early on after a front nine of 18 and no blobs. He traditionally does well on the first day and looked to be heading that way at nine, but three blobs in the first four holes on the back nine and only one point on the last two his back nine score of 10 left him 4 short of first day victory.

Red team captain Dale and Bez also posted 28 points. Dales came with 16 points and two blobs on the front nine and like Pete a below average 12 on the back. Bez did not fair much better not being able to string any run together, just lots of single point scores.
