Report: It ended up being a good and early start to the season after a week on uncertainty. Consistent and torrential rain for 4 days leading up to the even made to course very wet. trolleys and buggies were banned in order to get the event on and maintain the quality of the course. After late communication and excellent work form the ground staff they managed to get the event on. The course was in great condition considering all the rain. The greens were really good, firm and true although did have a lot of sand on them, fairways a little wet in places and tees mostly clear with little disruption of mats.

On the golf front it was blue team captain Chris Shaw who led the way with a solid round of 6 under par, some 3 shots clear of Nico (helped by a 5 pointer on one hole) who himself managed a 3 under par round of 39, some 3 shots behind Chris. Another 3 shots back in third was club captain Pete Shaw who managed to slog out a par round of 36. Tommo was the only other golfer to equal par.

It was a warm welcome to our 3 new members Steve Bentley, Gary Holtham and Dan Moore. Steve faired the best with a very good 6th place finish with a solid buffer zone score of 33 points. Not quite the same outcome for Gary and Dan who both finished in the bottom 3. Gary (pictured left) said he was a bit rusty and has yet to adapt to his challenging new handicap of 16. Dan also struggled with his touch around the greens and his new lower handicap, but it was his first outing for some 4 months. (A sort of an excuse anyway :-)
