We picked a beautiful  March day for our warm up event. Hardly a cloud in the sky, slight breeze and short sleeve weather gave us little room for excuses. The course was in good condition considering the greens had just been spiked and the week had a good sprinkling of rain, neither a surprise for this time of the year. The golf course played well and did not succumb to many big scores considering there were 10 par 3's and 4 very short par 4's. Only 6 golfers broke par which was probably due to the well placed bunkers and water hazards, with the feature fines amassing to one of the highest we have ever had.

Our winner this week was Abbo who carded a very impressive 6 under par for 42 points. One blob and two 4 point score either side of seven 3 pointers was the story of the success. Back in second on count back was Graham who has waited a while for a score under par. Lets hope it a sign of a good season. Third spot went to the societies youngest member and second lowest handicapper James H. His round saw 9 pars and a birdie with no blobs, good consistency and scoring the lowest gross score of the day, an impressive 70, five shots clear of Gez, who himself was only 1 shot behind in forth place. He finally turned his good form away from a society day into a competition day, all but it was only a practice good signs for the season to come though. Back in 5th and shares 37 points was Division 3 golfer and first timer at Marston Pete Randle, who started off like a train by paring the first 4 holes for 13 points. Unfortunately 4 blobs in the next 14 and a couple of missed short putts left him 5 points short of top spot. The last golfer to break par was Nico who performed this feat for the second event running. Like the others all good signs for the season ahead. New member Steve Bentley (pictured right) has started to get into his rhythm has he starts to mix with other members.
