Wishaw August 11th

Dave T playing with his balls on the first tee. Obviously had the desired effect after taking first spot with 39 points. Something we should all think of on the first tee.

Brian & Steve checking out the cards before starting their rounds.

On a lovely sunny day just off the M42 our latest event saw a closely contested affair with only 2 points separating the first 6 players. There was a fair showing from all divisions amongst these, with 2 golfers from each division. Sean A, Steve W and Krys J all weighed in with 37 points with Sean and Krys scouring 2 gross birdies/net eagles each and Steve notching one backed up with 6 gross pars/net birdies. Steve might have played well on most holes but was a touch wayward on the back 9 almost taking off Chris Shaw head with a powerful hit at the picturesque 13th. Just one shot better off came Gez and Dale. Gez again showed why he is one of the societies top men with only one blob in his round of 38 points for a 2 under par round, but suffice to say it was on the 97yrd 10th which to be fair you could have pared with a putter. Dale had one of his best rounds of the season also scoring 38 points. This blob free round saw 7 gross birdies/net pars and 6 net pars also for a 2 under par round. But ahead of them all was Dave T with a 3 under par round for 39 points.

Paul B had a fair round now he has had back to back rounds made up of 5 blobs a few pars and bogies a net eagle and a very rare gross birdie/net albatross. Paul also took the nearest the pin in 2 on the 14th with not one of his best holes. A couple of other division 3 players had their best rounds since joining WGGC. Andy G notched 33 points with some careful shots with 12 of his holes being net par or better. Chris Shaw was the other with a solid round to remember, this was made up of 2 net eagles and 5 net birdies, a few visits to the range to help sort out his tee shots will mean more rounds around this score. Nearest the pin this week was taken by division 1 player Craig W, with a cracking shot off the tee that left him a few feet short unfortunately his could not convert it into a birdie but got another safe par.

A late night at the super club last night seems to be taking its toll on Nico. The worry thing was this was on the first tee before he even got out on there. Might have had something to do with his score of 28.

Cool looking Darren G knocking it down the middle on the opener. (Well almost the middle)
