Park Hill

A blustery day in Leicestershire saw another successful society event. 31 golfers could not muster up a single birdie for the first time this season and only notched up 95 pars in total. Taking the top spot after count back was Mark Beswick just piping Steve Whiston who both posted a 2 under their par for 38 points. Just one point back was another two golfers with Brian D and Jim both posting 37 points for a welcome good round. Brian D continues his good form with his third consecutive round under par which keeps him just one point behind Eagle League leader Anthony. Jim on the other hand had his first round of the season under par after his 37 point hall but still keeps him stuck at the bottom of the Eagle League. Just another point back was Dale & Wiggy both posting a par round of 36 Stableford points. Dale who has now posted 3 consecutive par rounds continues to climb up the league on 8 points off top spot. Dave W who has also posted his third par and better round is now in third place and hot on the heels of Anthony H and Brian D. The Albatross league is getting tight after joint leader Gez had a nightmare round of 25, Mark P had a solid display of 34 moving him up into second jumping over Captain Pete who could only muster a round of 31. Graham S continues to keep his top in the Birdie League  after a round of 34 points which was hard worked. After spending far two much time in the sand (see right). He maxed out on feature fines by the turn and almost did it again on the back 9. Longest drive saw a most predictable result with Bez rasping one down the middle on the 10th to win the prize by some distance. Nearest the pin competitions both went to the same golfer with Andy Gordon being his most accurate on the holes that count ending up only a few feet away from the pin on the 5th and the 11th. Andy could not keep that form going only ending up with 26 points.

Paul H mister consistent had a chance to challenge the leaders but blobbed the 18th to end up on 34 in equal 8th position. Paul (pictured right) looking pensive on the first tee, thinking was the buggy he was sharing with Graham electric, Petrol or Diesel which was probably understandable after his mishap some 24 hours earlier. He apparently filed up his car with the wrong fuel causing him considerable embarrassment, time and money. Anthony H, James L, Paul N, Whitt and John H all posted rounds within their handicap posting 33 points each. A couple of rounds to forget from the two lowest handicappers in the society after Gez N and Dave B both posted a poor 25 points. Current Albatross League champion Dave T continues his poor form with his 4th round out of 5 in the twenties. Greg W also had his worst score of the season finishing with 26, disappointing after back to back 38's at the last two events.
