A return to an old favorite, and we were not disappointed. The course was in excellent condition, with superb greens and immaculate fairways throughout. The refurbished clubhouse, along with a number of planned improvements, has clearly elevated the overall quality well beyond what it once was.

The weather, however, was highly changeable—shifting between bursts of sunshine, strong winds, and even sleet, all set against temperatures lingering in the high single digits. The golf mirrored the conditions, with scoring proving tough and no one managing to break par. The long winter break no doubt played its part, but despite the challenge, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all.

Only seven golfers managed to break 30, with three players, Jamie Agnew, Kirk Taylor, and Pete Barry, finishing on that mark. Their cards featured a sprinkling of single-point holes along with a couple of blobs. One shot better on 31 points were Jack, Steve Whiston, and Mark Beswick, whose rounds were lifted by the occasional three- and four-point holes. However, the clear winner by four shots was Martin Shaw. His round was built on consistency, with just one blob and six pars, making for a strong and steady start to the season.
