Handicap Changes
after today:
Here
The
October weather treated us well, providing a beautiful day for 18
holes at the well maintained Atherstone course. The greens were in
superb condition, and many players took full advantage of the short
yet challenging layout, with over half the field in the thirties.
Five golfers broke par today with the ever-consistent Howard carding
a one-under, his fourth sub-par round of the year, cementing his
move up the leagues next year. Karl produced his best performance of
the season with a superb two-under-par 38, while the fast-improving
Martin Shaw matched that score his third under-par round in his last
four outings as he sees his handicap starting to tumble. Then two
golfers went even better, both carding an excellent three-under-par
39 to finish tied at the top. Newcomer Kevin recorded his best round
to date his card included just one blob (on the shortest hole), but
he more than made up for it with a brilliant five-pointer and two
four-point holes. However, his back nine of 14 points meant he lost
out on countback to Paul N, who took the honours on the day. Paul’s
round was built on consistency, featuring ten pars and one birdie
for the lowest gross of the day an impressive 82, only spoiled from
being even better by blobbing the two very accessible par fives on
the back nine. Worth mentioning, Jason had a strong return to form
with a par round of 36 by far his best of the season. He was on
fire, setting the pace on all three Nearest-the-Pin holes (two of
which were very close), but unfortunately, he couldn’t hold onto any
of them. |
