Our latest visit to the picturesque Dudley course was a little disappointing. We managed to complete a full 18 holes after the 3rd attempt and yes the course was very pretty but the greens very very poor. Good weather helped but on such a tight course there was never going to be big scoring. The heavily tree lined course evened out many of the golfers with only 6 points separating the top 14 places. A bad putt, chunked approach or loose drive could have easily lost you 4 or 5 places. A par score was always going to be difficult with the winner Rob falling 3 short. His first match day win for almost 4 years was crafted with 6 three point scores and only 3 blobs giving him a single point victory form Chris S and Pete R. Chris made a welcome return to form and was ruing a sloppy finish with only 3 points on the last 3 holes, after 19 points at the turn. Pete Randle backed up his second place finish at the last event (Forest of Arden) with one here. His sticky patch of 3 blobs on 4 holes on the middle of the back nine was the difference from victory.
