Hill Valley 2011

Our 4th trip to Hill Valley was as tough as any. The weather was wonderful sunshine with very little wind, the greens in good condition and the tree lined fairways giving most golfers a little trouble.  The weekend went to our most senior member John Howard with a solid two days of golf. Winning on Saturday and losing on count back to Paul Newsome on Sunday. Throw in the Captains Combo and and 8 point lead in the division Two OOM overall a good day at the office. Lowest handicapper Paul Newsome started his defense of the Division One OOM with a one shot under par round to take the honors on Sunday.  Only 4 golfer shot 30 plus rounds on both days over the weekend. Anthony H and Bez sharing 64 points at the top of Division One, and John H and Jim C from division 2 holding the top two positions.

Of course this weekend hosted the UK round of the Wyder Cup which did not disappoint. The Reds had five and Blues had four golfers that where unbeaten over the weekend. From the Reds Paul Newsome, John Howard and Woody won both while Captain Dale won one and drew one, and Gez Newsome drew both. Leading the way for the Blues was Anthony Harding and Wiggy winning both and Bez and Chris Shaw winning one and drawing the other. Captain Pete broke his duck of winning at Hill Valley on Saturday but came back down to earth with a thumping 5&4 loss to Dave Blakeborough on Sunday. Both teams had three golfers who went the weekend without a win, from the Reds it was Paul Cameron, Rob Ward and Graham Aulton, and the Blues Lee Underhill, Jim Cunningham and new member Mark Cassels.
