Wharton Park

After 3 years we finally completed a round of golf at Wharton Park, and it did not disappoint.  On a day where 8 golfers broke par and  a new Bandit was born. After sliding up the handicap scale of the past few years Cam put in a blistering 14 shots under par (50 stableford points) Six pars, no blobs and in and out in 25 rounded off a great day for him and a record for the society (On UK soil) Greg on any other day would have won the event after a solid round of 41 points. But he had to settle for second. A solid round only saw one blob and equal the most number of pars on the day with nine. A clutch of four golfers where one shot back on 40 points. Gez who went round with Greg where both on fire and a pleasure to watch for the captain. He also matched Greg with 9 pars but weighed in with a birdie, but just the odd too many single point holes. Brother Paul shot a cracking round now being our lowest handicapper on 11.1, leading the way to becoming our first single figure player. Steve Whiston was another to hit the 40 point barrier which now send s him 12 shots clear in the Division 2 OOM, through to the final of the Committee Shield and the League Autumn Knockout Final, also through to the pairs semi final and leading the Grand Prix and Par 3 Championship. Looks like its going to be a good year for Steve after a baron 2009.  Associate member Kev Wynne weighed in with a solid round of 40 to kick start his WGGC career. After a first hole blob it was plain sailing.  Anthony H and Wiggy both notched below par rounds to help their climb up the Division one OOM. Two blobs on the front nine from Anthony where backed up well with 23 points on the back nine. Where as no blobs from Wiggy but six holes with just a single point saw him fall short. Andy Leitch continued his good form through to the Division Three knockout final and opening up an 8 shot cushion in Division 3 OOM.
