Bromsgrove

Our summer event saw us return to Bromsgrove after 3 years, and it proved well worth it. We managed to beat the weather with just a couple of small showers just before and half way round. Things got off to a fine start with a massive breakfast and a free basket of range balls on the refurbished golf range. Winner on the day and only one of two golfers to break par was Rick B. Going out first with Woody in a two ball must have inspired him. A welcome return to form and his best score of the year by far gave him a three under par round of 39 stableford points. His blob free round 8 pars and gross 81 was his best return to date. Only one shot behind was Steve W. His round of 38 moved him to the top of division two and the Grand Prix, through to the semi of the division two Autumn Knockout and the semi of the Committee Shield. An altogether good day from Steve and all but his only blob on the 15th another match day victory would have been added to the days takings. Two shots back was a clutch of four golfers who all finished on even par. Craig W had a good return to form and posted the best gross of the day 80. He could have got into the 70's and even troubled the top spot if his two single points on the 17th and 18th had not materialized. Mister consistent Paul H was not far away with only one blob in his round on the stroke index one 5th. The vastly improving Leitchy posted another par round that could have been so much better with only two points in the last four holes. This now takes him four shots clear in division three and through to the semi final of the Autumn knockout. Bez was the other golfer to score 36 his best score of the season to date in an all round good day for him, taking both the nearest the pin competitions. Like many others it could have been much better for all but two points on the last three holes. The big hitter failing to score on the very short and only par five. Dale G had a day to forget with his worst score since April 2007, which has seen him being knocked off top spot in the OOM and slip down a few of the other seasonal comps. Andy G and Chris Shaw also had a day to forget with below par performances on a day where accuracy was a key component to delivering a competitive score.
