Today saw our highest scoring event of the year with 10 golfers breaking par and another 15 playing to their handicap buffer. Top spot went down to count back, but with Wiggy's 25 points on the back nine made up from 7 pars and 2 bogies for a gross 39, it was much too strong for John Howard's 19. His winning sore of 43 was easily his best of the season moving him up to 4th in division 2. It was also John H's best score of the year by a good nine shots. His front nine total of 24 points was a good grounding for his total of 43.

Back in second was James L and Anthony H. James has hit back to back 40 plus scores which has probably come too late for him to take the division 3 title, but non the less gives him a confidence boost and a reduced handicap of 28.7 his lowest since April 08. Anthony continues to go in the right direction with another 40 plus round, reducing his handicap to his lowest ever some 7 shots better than when he started with the society. Just one shot back was a clutch of 4 golfers on 40 points. On a day of best scores of the season Cam was another in that category. His score today was 8 shots better than his Abbey Hotel score. Bez was another who ended up on 40 points after a back nine demolition of 25 points for an even par gross score of 37. (First golfer in the society to score an even par nine holes) His average score on the front nine stopped him winning today's event. The captain continues his good form since returning from tour and finishing last. Plenty of bogies but not enough pars was the difference from Pete taking top spot. The other golfer on 40 points was mister consistent. Another excellent round today consolidated his lead at the top of division 2, and with a 10 point lead moving to the last event it looks all over for the chasing pack.

Today saw the final of the prestigious "Committee Shield" which this year was between division 2 golfers Rob W and Dale G (pictured left) It went all the way to the eighteenth. Rob hit a cracking drive with Dale some way off too the left, so off they set with Rob all smiles but on arriving at the water hazard some half way up the fairway, there was his ball nestling on the bank inside the hazard. After a drop and a fluff into the rough it left Dale an easy route, which he took with a net par.  Autumn knockouts for all divisions where being decided today. Cam took the division 3 title from James L with a few holes to spare. Division 2 saw Sean A win easily against Rich D who had a day he would want to forget. Nine points on the front and 8 on the back was the best he could muster. The closest result was for the division one knockout title that saw Paul N and Mark B battle it out. Never more than a couple of holes in it all the way through it went down to the last. They arrived at the 18th tee with Paul being one up. Paul was aware that Bez had an almost perfect back nine so count back was always going to go the way of Bez. Paul's drive 40 yards from the green straight down the middle was just what the doctor ordered for a hole where a half would have clinched it for him. Then big hitting Bez launched a drive that ended up some 5 feet from the hole. Then you can guess he sinks the putt for an eagle, four points the hole and the division 1 Autumn trophy.
