AGM 2023

Our 2023 AGM took place Saturday January 7th 2023 at New Pippin Public House.

Attendees: Peter Shaw, Gez Newsome, Andy Whittaker, Chris Shaw, Anthony Harding, Steve Whiston  Start: 18:10 Finish 21.40 (3:30 Hrs)

Financials

  • Financial statement and spending analysis were presented by Pete and concurred by all committee members.

  • Anthony H will organise the wine bottles for the prizes

  • Prize money increase to £35 per clubhouse competition winner

Handicaps

  • New Rule: For every match day (including foreign tour), 95% of individuals playing handicaps will be used. (Basically reduces the number of shots above your index you receive on a golf day, and falls inline with WHS guidelines)

  • Rule Change: Exception handicap change 1 shot cut for scores 41 and over (was 43)

  • Rule Change: Exception handicap change 2 shots cut for scores 44 and over (was 46)

The Committee reviewed all the handicaps in detail and made the following adjustments:

  • Karl Blattner: decrease to 20.0

  • Sean Wynne: decrease to 20.5

  • Pete Shaw: decrease to 21.0

  • Chris Shaw: decrease to 18.0

  • Jim Cunningham: decrease to 22.6

  • Anthony Wale: decrease to 27.0

  • Jason Carroll: decrease to 26.0 & (Remains a Red, may guest as Blue on Tour)

  • Jamie Agnew: decrease to 19.0

  • Jack Davis: decrease to 16.5

  • Anthony Harding: decrease to 9.0

  • Craig Whatsize: decrease to 14.5

  • Kirk Taylor set to 20.0 (Provisionally as a Blue)

Leagues & Competitions

  • Division 1 (10 players)

  • Division 2 (11 players)

    • Peter Shaw moves into Division 2

    • Karl Blattner moves into Division 2

    • Kirk Taylor joins Division 2

  • Division 3 (10 players)

    • Steve Bentley moves to Division 3

    • Alan Thompson moves to Division 3

  • All draws compete for knockouts, pairs & committee shield (See website for full details)

2023 Golf Days

  • UK weekend (Friday) to be a Wyder Cup match day & is counted as a regular match day and counts towards your handicap adjustments.

  • Order of Merit to be calculated from 7 out of 10 match days

  • Grand Prix to be 8 out of 10 match days

  • Par 3 to be 8 out of 10 match days

  • Round Robin competitions to included in the May Friday event (replaced the 2nd June Event)

  • A decision on the draw format for the tour to be made in July (Currently 23 golfers, Red 13 & Blue 10)

Society Documents

  • Pete to send out changes to the constitution to the committee for review. Version 7 to be created and agreed.

AOB

  • Clothing order to be sent out the end-January, last minute additions can be added.
