AGM 2012

Our 2012/13 AGM meeting  took place on Thursday December 27th 2012 at the Devonshire Arms public house. Details of agreed additions and modifications are shown below.

  • Accounts were presented and agreed as correct.

  • Modification made to "Annual Handicap Review" formula. Shot range inside each category expanded to take into account handicap differential. See detailed formula here.

            * James Heathcote cut by 1.0 to (13.3) Playing 13 and moves into Division One.

            * Krys Jilks cut by 3.0 to (22.4) Playing 22 and moves into Division Two.

            * Patrick Mahoney is awarded a handicap of (24.6) Playing 25 and joins Division Three.

            * Rob Ward cut by 0.7 to (24.0) Playing 24.

            * Dave Blakeborough cut by 0.5 to (10.4) Playing 10.

            * Anthony Harding cut by 1.1 to (11.2) Playing 11.

            * Andrew Whittaker cut by 0.5 to (20.6) Playing 21.

            * John Howard cut by 0.5 to (17.4) Playing 17.

            * Andy Leitch cut by 0.5 to (26.7) Playing 27.

            * Lee Underhill reviewed but remains on (26.9) Playing 27.

            * Chris Shaw increased by 1.0 to (23.6) Playing 24.

            * Ian Hammond increased by 1.0 to (26.9) Playing 27.

            * Paul Heathcote increased by 0.5 to (16.7) Playing 17.

  • The Competitions also received some attention and changes where made for the 2013 season.

            * The trial "WGGC MatchPlay" competition will not be continued but a small prize awarded to this years winner.

            * The "Committee Shield" will now be played over Stableford MatchPlay format for all rounds (merged with removed MatchPlay competition)

            * The trial "WGGC Open" will not be continued going forward but a small prize awarded to this years winner.

            * For consistency the "Pairs Championship" final will revert back to Stableford format from MatchPlay as all the other rounds.

            * Pairs winners from previous season will now be split for following season.

            * SPCS Challenge Cup" is now confirmed as an official competition for the 2013 season.

            * The Winners of each Divisional OOM or either knockout competitions cannot win their Divisional round robin. (Allow greater spread of winners)

  • League structure and format agreed. Division One 12 golfers, handicap cut-off 15. Division Two 11 golfers, handicap cut-off 23.8. Division Three 10 golfers.

  • Season will start with 33 members. There are a couple of other golfers interested. These will join the "Associate member" section if/when confirmed.

  • All competitions are opened up for sponsorship. Communication will be sent out by the committee in the new year outlining details if anyone is interested.

  • All future trial competitions will be awarded a prizes regardless if they run or not.

  • All venues and dates for 2013 season agreed with the committee.

  • Patrick Mahoney joins the Wyder Cup Red team.

  • 2014 Anniversary season format changes agreed by the committee.

              * Season opening April weekender moved to June 14th & 15th. Replaced with visit to the PGA course at the belfry in April.

              * Anniversary weekender in June to be in Wales. (Links & coastline courses) Waiting on member conformation and numbers. Pete will publish proposal.

  • 2013 tour format proposal changes for 2nd day pairs. (Dave Blakeborough proposal) Combined Stableford pairs scores instead of better ball. Red and Blue team captains have been given the final decision. (Maybe trail for 2013 season)

  • With 18 golfers going on the 2013 tour it was decided that double singles on the final day (Tavistock Format) would not be ran. So 19 points would be available, (5, 5, 9) first to 10.

  • Greg Whatsize membership has been suspended for the 2013 season, in line with constitution line item 18 (View here)  Committee will write to him explaining their actions.

  • Line item added to constitution to confirm guidelines for match day SSS format. If 25% of golfers break par then the SSS will be considered. If 75% of golfers fail to break buffer zone then again the SSS will be considered. See latest constitution here.

  • All draws where made for the seasons competitions. Check relevant comp for details to see who you have be drawn against.

  • Hawkstone Park Saturday Wyder Cup draw will be completed in March 2013, with the Sunday draw being held at the presentation night on Saturday.
